Earth to GOP: Wake Up!

Ok so now the President has produced a birth certificate. No matter how you feel about it, it is done and it is what it is. Here are some things we need to consider as conservatives.

-We need to move on now. As he himself said we have more important stuff happening. I know some think that is not right. I'm sorry. The liberals have been using that birth certificate as a weapon for the past three years. They won't stop now. So we need to stop.

--Let's also throw Donald Trump out with the bathwater. I have already expressed my misgivings about him. The fact is he has until recently shown more liberal tendencies than conservative. He is enjoying this right now. It's just a shame he is all smoke and mirrors.

---Haley Barbour has thrown in the towel as well. Not hat I really was considering him. Haley is a former GOP chairman and has been around a while. He knows his chops and has executive experience. But I fear too much of the status quo GOP is there.

That all leaves conservatism with some decisions to make as concerns who might front the GOP next year for the election. I encourage conservatives or libertarians who lean conservative, take time and look closely at those who might run. One of the things I shy away from when it comes to the Donald is his ability to polarize. He can faction the right. What happens then is if he is not nominated many will try to get him to go third party and even write him in. This will siphon votes from the right. Hello second term for Obama.

Finding the perfect candidate is not really possible. However, we don't want to be looking towards a Bob Dole or a John McCain. I personally want Chris Christie or Allan West. Neither, however, are running. For now.

We have to also bear in mind that, while the President may seem to be in a bind right now because of oil prices and a disgruntled base, that can change and change swiftly. There is still plenty of time for his team to revitalize his campaign of old complete with fainting women in the crowds.

Therefore it's time to start looking at things with the filter of our common sense, stop allowing ourselves to be baited by the left into bickering amongst ourselves, and look for the leadership. It's out there.
