The White House Correspondents Dinner:For Donald? President Obama does stand-up?
62This was funny? For whom?
Well this years White House Correspondents dinner has come and gone. Now normally you have an opportunity for the President of the day to relax a bit and poke a little fun at himself and his administration. It's particularly fun when the President is unpopular with the press. So what was up this one?
Pin the tail on The Donald
President Barack Obama apparently felt the need to take the opportunity, with the subject of his skewering in the room with him, to aim barbs at Donald Trump instead of himself. Just when you think that all that was over and done for, this happens at an event as high profile as this.
His staff had apparently done quite a bit of preparation for the event, including slides and such of what they imagined a Donald Trump White House might look like. This of course included casino references and such. This of course was followed by Seth Myers from Saturday Night Live who apparently was the relay man in the race. He came right in and did the follow-up work on the subject of Mr.Trump, who by the way has not officially declared candidacy for the highest office in the land.
It seems rather amazing that the President and his administration felt the need to put on such a performance. Now I am no fan of Donald Trump, as I have documented in this blog site, However, it seems a little insecure to use him in the manner they did last night.
Most of us conservatives had long since given up any serious thought about whether Barack Obama had genuine citizenship issues. You also would have thought the best thing to do would be to let the subject, with it's personality, die off a bit.
Not so Barack Obama. Instead, with his cadre of loving press corps, went after the jugular. I am sure he enjoyed himself completely. You know a couple years ago George W. Bush had this dinner and even brought in a comic to impersonate him. He completely lampooned himself before the same press corp who hated his guts, and still do.
Which of these do you think was more presidential?
I certainly hope that it helps some see whom they are really dealing with. For all his supposed charisma he really seem to posses no sense of forgiveness or charity to those who take an opposing stance to his ideologies. This also considering that Donald Trump it the past has donated heavily to the Democrats. Ask Rahm Emanuel.
This also just a week after he basically low voice threatened an interviewer for the manner in which he was interviewed. This also in the week an NAACP official stated that coting for him "was the worst mistake of my life".
The election is next year. i sure hope people are watching and listening with open eyes and ears.
Happy Sunday Afternoon.
